MAKERS + MOVERS: JESSIE / HOW YOU GLOW


Tara and Jessie, the duo behind HOW YOU GLOW, are after my own belly + being—hungry for kicks of umami, touches of high vibration, + fountains of creative inspiration in search for the glow. Q: Tell us a little bit about you and what led you to create How You Glow.
I am a yoga teacher / art therapist / food lover / traveler and seeker. How You Glow combines all my interests and allows Tara and I to endlessly explore everything that fascinates and inspires us to be better people, and hopefully does the same for others! 

Q: What inspired the name?
We
wanted the name of our business to represent that special, indescribable quality in something or someone that pulls you in and makes you want to get closer. We now define that magnetic, sparkly energy as “GLOW”…There are endless ways to glow, and our site aims to keep asking how. 


Q: When you are not working on How You Glow, what else do you like to do?
Luckily, How You Glow barely feels like work because it just consists of doing all the things that I already love to do! Or learning new things that I didn’t even know I loved. I teach yoga and lead art therapy groups every day alongside my work at How You Glow. 


Q: What keeps you going? Do you have a daily routine, ritual, or a mantra?
Gratitude and appreciation for my family, my health, and for being able to do what I love. I try to ask myself how I can contribute and add to the world every day, rather than just take.

Q: What are some of your favourite snacks or foods that fuel your creative process?
Dried fruit (prunes, dates, papaya and mangos especially), almonds, granola, coconut cream party from juice served here, hummus and vegetables, avocado!


Q: What are your three staples for glowing health?
a positive, grateful, open attitude
a combination of yoga, walking, biking and lots of time outdoors
warm water with lemon! all day everyday.

Q: What would be an ideal day for you?
Wake up in bed with my boyfriend, walk to yoga, jump in the ocean for a swim, eat a delicious brunch at Gjusta in Venice, afternoon couples massage at Tomoko Spa in Beverly Hills, head back to the beach to drink rose while watching the sunset, make a delicious dinner to enjoy with friends, watch a movie and have a great night’s sleep :) 


Q: Who are some sources of inspiration for you?
My mom, Lauren Groveman, who is an amazing chef and cookbook author; Tara, my business partner who is very hardworking and talented.. many more as well :)

Q: What are your go-to products in your holistic medicine cabinet?

Never-ending Omakase in Tokyo

Shantaram to prepare for my upcoming trip to India!

Q: What makes your heart glow?
All the love I am fortunate enough to have in my life and being healthy which allows me to enjoy it. Being fully present and aware that each moment is a gift makes my heart glow.
