S P I R I T U A L   S M A C K  |  S H U T  T H E  D O O R

For most of us, coming home to ourselves is opening a closet door to uninvited yet too-familiar guests: our obsessions and compulsions. These are not just neuroses of our own and those we have towards or impose on others, breaking tender inner and outer connexions. Shadows of our greed, annoyances, fears reflected on others.

Obsession is gripping, it's holding on. It's losing consciousness and presence in a two-way habitual pattern or thoughts of desire and control. To release this pattern is to allow the obsession be obsessive—the minute we try to stop, navigate, or control the obsessions, we actualise and make more real that exact realm. This week, let's be soft and kind with our obsessions instead. Let's extricate ourselves from identifying with our neuroses, shutting the door and becoming disinterested in whether we're neurotic or not. Let's free ourselves from a tug war of push + pull judgement of our intricacies and befriend ourselves in entirety.
