Camp Thirlby's Guide to Navigate the Depths this Pisces Season

Is it me or has the energy this past week been heavy?

It would make sense, as mercury began its retrograde in Pisces on February 14, Pisces season began on February 19, and a new moon in Pisces hit on February 23. This mixture means feelings, nostalgia, and daydreams, and it means it now.

Pisces season marks the end of the astrological year. Therefore, some consider Pisces to hold elements of all the signs that come before it. That would explain the signs’ emphatic nature and ability to see and intuitively understand others.

The mutable water sign, Pisces are just as slippery as the fish that represent them. Their relationship with time and space is only casual, as they’d rather get lost in a world all their own. They are the dreamers and the rememberers. Pisces placements hold tightly to the past and the things that once brought them comfort in a world they often feel too sensitive for.

With all this Pisces energy in the air, it’s no surprise if you're feeling especially dreamy or intuitive or even emotional over the past week. As the astrological year comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the lessons learned and feel what needs to be felt before we begin again. Here’s our guide to navigate the depths this Pisces season.

School and Work

Mutable Pisces season marks the end of a chapter which began in Capricorn season. Intentions you set in motion then and continued through Aquarius season can be carried through to the next logical step with the adaptable nature of Pisces.

This is a good time to reflect on your recent experiences in school, at work, or within your passions. What things disappointed you? What had you hoped for? What do you hope for going forward and how can you avoid making the same mistakes?

Taking the time to listen to your intuition and interiority now will bring you more fulfillment in your work in the future.

Relationships

Deeply feeling Pisces brings an unmistakable sense of care to relationships. This is a tender time for love in all its forms. Moving away from the objective, intellectual Aquarius, Pisces encourages emotional understanding that does not always follow the confines of logic. This is a great time to recommit to care in your relationship with your partner and connect to them on a deeper, more authentic level. Intuitive Pisces energy encourages you to pay attention to non-verbal communication in your relationships and allow each other to express feelings openly and without fear.

Pisceans’ capacity for love extends beyond romantic connections. Open yourself to radically love and accept love in your other relationships as well. However, be mindful of the influences around you, as idealistic Pisces often get taken advantage of due to their desire to see the best in all people. Unconditional love and personal boundaries can coexist, so don’t be afraid to kindly assert your place if the influx of feelings begins to overwhelm you.

Free Time

While fellow water signs, Cancer and Scorpio, protect their emotional interiors with external shells, Pisces tend to approach their world with a childlike air of playfulness, cultivated by their rich imaginations. This season, tap into your own emotions through imaginative and creative exercises, alone or with a companion or two. Release yourself from the calculated perfectionism of Virgo, Pisces’s opposite sign, and instead allow your creations to be guided by free-flowing intuition. Whatever your chosen creative outlet, allow yourself to experiment and expand your creative limits.

Self

Pisces season is an optimal time to reconnect with your emotional depths as well as your higher self. Open minded Pisces encourages you to be honest with yourself about your pain and desires, without judging yourself for them. This is a time to embrace radical vulnerability, both with yourself and with others. Pisces reminds us that our ability to feel is a great strength rather than a weakness; if you’ve been holding in a good cry, just let it roll! The water of your creation will wash you in preparation for the rebirth to come.

Of the twelve signs of the Zodiac, Pisces is the most tapped into the spiritual world. Delve into your spiritual inclinations through meditation or prayer. Pay close attention to your dreams during this time and, if your intuition begins to overwhelm you, consider channeling it into tarot or free writing. Listen to your gut and trust it to guide you into new beginnings and possibilities you never dared to imagine.

These days, she thinks honest and fully developed stories about women are even better than fairy tales. When she’s not scheming against the male hegemony of the media industry, she can be found thrifting, watching cult films and TV and badly dancing to good music.
