Let’s Fucking Do Something

If you are like me, you came of age during the wake of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown’s murder. You saw the system fail those who have been failed time and time again. Here we are in 2020 staring down the same injustice. Reckoning with your place in a corrupt system is just the first part of dismantling white supremacy. I challenge you to do something. Listen to black people instead of interjecting with your own thoughts. Donate to bail funds and families of victims. Sign petitions, call senators, and demand justice. Protest in your city. If you cannot be there in person, donate supplies or money to activists doing work on the ground floor. We don’t need to accept things as they are. Innocent people do not need to die for no reason.

Families to Donate to

Leslie Fund: “Leslie was peacefully protesting, when La Mesa PD opened fire in close range and shot her directly in her head. She is currently in ICU and we are praying for a full recovery. These funds will cover any medical expenses, as well as any travel expense to bring immediate family here for support.”

Deanna Green: “Deanna is a black trans woman who recently got out of prison where she spent 15 years of her life. The funding she usually gets from the government because she is unable to work due to an injury to her back was recently cut off and her renewal request has been denied. This puts her at risk for homelessness because she has no other source of income. 100% of funds are directly going to Deanna for the following things: Housing stability, food, medicine, clothing, whatever else she needs or wants.”

George Floyd Memorial Fund: “This fund is established to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, lodging and travel for all court proceedings, and to assist our family in the days to come as we continue to seek justice for George. A portion of these funds will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the benefit and care of his children and their educational fund.”

Breonna Taylor: “Fund for the family of Breonna Taylor.”

David McAtee: “There is no goal to reach and there is no dollar amount that will ever equal David's life, so this campaign will do everything in its power to secure as many relief funds as possible for the McAtee family.”

Tony Mcdade: “Fund for the family of Tony Mcdade, a Black trans man who was murdered by a Tallahassee police officer. This fund is established to cover funeral and burial expenses, mental and grief counseling, and to assist Tony's family in the days to come as they continue to seek justice for Tony.”

Ahmaud Marquez Arbery: “The goal is to help lighten the load by eliminating the financial burden as much as possible. Please continue to share Ahmaud's story until justice is served for those responsible for his death. Any donations will be MORE than appreciated by Ahmaud's family.”

Iyanna Dior: “On June 1st Iyanna Dior, a black trans woman, was a victim of a violent attack. Linked is her cashapp where she is accepting donations.”
