Happy astrological new year, my sweet stargazing darlings!

The zodiac begins again at the Spring Equinox, around March 21st, every year, as the sun moves from slippery, dreamy Pisces into warm, passionate Aries. Aries season marks a time of innocence and a fresh start. The cardinal fire sign, Aries possess the ultimate starting energy and lead us into the unknown with unmatched bravery and optimism for the future to come.

Ruled by warrior Mars, Aries placements do not shy away from conflict. However, do not mistake them for cruel tyrants; their motivations are rooted in their overwhelming capacity of love and willingness to sacrifice themselves for it. Their passionate energy is devoted even more so to creation than to destruction, as their instincts lead them into bold artistic pursuits and uncharted adventures.

This Aries season is a strange and challenging one, as the global community finds ourselves isolated at home due to COVID-19 in an astrological period defined by a love of socializing and adventure. Yet, Aries placements are never ones to shy away from a challenge; especially a challenge that allows them to protect others, such as the challenge we now face together as a planet to keep eachother safe by responsibly social distancing and staying home.

In this time and all times, we love Aries placements for their magnetic authenticity, their effortless dauntlessness, and their seemingly limitless capacity for all-encompassing love. Here’s our guide to ram onward this Aries season.

School and Work

Cardinal Aries drives us to start new projects. At this time, new ideas ignite as quickly as flames, which may even be overwhelming. Be certain to capture these moments of inspiration before the flames extinguish. Armed with ideas, remember to be strategic and not take on too many passion projects all at once.

While Aries energy is highly motivated and forward moving, be kind to yourself in your pursuits. Emotional and mental stressors surround us in the physical world at this time as we all grapple with difficulties created and exasperated by the pandemic, making it difficult to focus our motivations in the way we’d like to. Keep in mind that this is a time for laying foundations and developing new ideas, but these things take time. Don’t aim your inner warrior at yourself in order to accomplish more than should be expected.

Relationships

In relationships, as in all things, Aries bring passion. If you are currently separated from your lover, this is a challenging energy to deal with. While Aries aren’t typically ones for delayed gratification, try to channel any pent up romantic or sexual urges into something a little more Victorian. Put your passion on paper and draft a love letter or two. Get dressed in your most powerful outfit and some sultry makeup (if you’re into that) and go on a candlelit digital dinner date. Make lists of all the liberating things you’ll do once it’s safe to.

Exuberant, extroverted Aries don't fare well with separation from their friends either. They thrive in chaos and when surrounded by new faces whom they can make connections with. While this Aries season may be party free, reimagine the possibilities of social gatherings. Throw a party on Zoom or see if some of your friends may be interested in getting to know one another through a groupchat, rather than at an irl function. Most importantly, channel protective and loving energy to check in with your friends and family and share any optimism you can muster.

Free Time

This is a time to release yourself from your mind and reconnect with your body as often as possible. This is made challenging under current global conditions, but Aries energy brings us the boost of creativity we need to see it through. Take a page from my favorite Aries’s book and dance with yourself in your mirror; film it and share it with your friends and ask them to dance along. Embrace the childlike qualities of the Zodiac’s youngest sign by resurrecting your favorite childhood activities, whether that means jumping rope around your apartment or kicking a ball around your yard. Once you’ve released your physical energy, channel your creative energy into an outlet of your choice. The key here is instinct; don’t overthink. Just create. Just do.

Self

This is a time to lean in to your authenticity. The Zodiac sign most associated with the ego and the phrase “I am,” Aries begs us to ask, really, “What am I?” This question is difficult and the only right answers are the ones that feel truest to you. Be brave in your ability to present your own individuality and embrace the fact that who are is never one stagnant thing. Rather, it’s a never ending series of instinctual reactions to the forces that surround you. The more you can understand, accept and love qualities within yourself, the more understanding, acceptance and love you can bring to others.

While the sun is in the Zodiac’s youngest sign, try to reconnect with the youngest versions of yourself, your inner child, and revisit your earliest hopes, dreams and desires. Do you feel aligned with them? In what ways have those things changed and in what ways have they remained the same? If you can, reflect on your earliest fears, vulnerabilities and wounds and envision yourself speaking to your inner child and providing them with the guidance and reassurance you needed at the time. This is a time for bold new beginnings and charging towards a better future, but this is only possible with an appreciation for and understanding of our past.

These days, she thinks honest and fully developed stories about women are even better than fairy tales.
